Yeah, We Did That

This morning I was up at 5, out the door by 615, and running with Amy around 645! I know, I know, who wakes up that early on a Sunday? And more specifically, who wakes up that early on a Sunday to run 15km? Amy and I do!

Sure it’s a little crazy, but it was the only time Amy and I could go together today and to be honest, it felt great, and I feel even more amazing now having completed 15km before 830 am!

So before my run I had a GU Energy Gel and some coffee.

Let me tell you.. when I picked Amy up at 630, I was WIRED. I haven’t taken any kind of energy gel since training for my last half, so having the GU combined with coffee created one ready-to-run Britta. Wowza.

We completed 15km in 1 hr 32min! 40 seconds faster than last week, so we are pretty happy about that.

It was also a good run because I purchased new shoes yesterday. I tell ya, it really does feel like Christmas. My decision came down to a pair of Asics or Saucony. But after much deliberation (about 30seconds) I stuck with Saucony. I mean I had to stay true to Saucony. Why mess up a good thing?

Check out how worn down my old shoes were! Yikes. Who knew? I mean, I knew it was time to get a new pair because my knees were starting to hurt, but I didn’t think it was THAT bad.

And I got my first pair of compression sleeves! I figured I’d give them a try to see what all the fuss is about. I purchased the CEP Compression Sleeve and I love them. Well, I think I do? I’m not exactly sure what I should be feeling.. but I feel good! So that’s all the matters I guess! :)

IMG_4189We didn’t see this today, but lately we have been seeing planes take off like no tomorrow! Its so cool to see. Max, Amy, and I always stop and watch :) yeah, we’re cool like that.

IMG_4110We always see rowers as well. Which is pretty cool. According to the ol’ brother this next picture sucks.. but thats ok! I like it, and am sharing it anyways. If you look closely you can see the rowers.. it was super dark out still!

Can’t Complain About That!

On Thursday I did something that I haven’t done in a long time. I went out! I am one of those people that prefers to stay in, read a book, watch a movie, and go for a run the following morning, but honestly it was nice to switch it up a bit!

We went to a semi-formal that UVic had put on. And by semi-formal I mean.. “wear something nice that isn’t jeans” – Victoria is very relaxed. It’s funny because if I were to go to a semi-formal back in Ottawa people would be dressed to the 9s. Here it’s more the 7s or 8s, but I am perfectly okay with that :)

The following day. A green juice was in order. Thank you Lifestyle Market. Can’t get enough of juices lately. In this guy we have apple, kale, celery, and parsley. Yum.

IMG_4144Today I am going to head to The Victoria Health Show and I am beyond excited! I am sure it’s going to be the bomb. :D sooo happy.

This video is also amazing.

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday!

Wow, I’m impressed you ran 15km early on a Sunday morning! The view looked amazing and I love your new shoes! How fun!

  2. That view is definitely worth the early morning wake up call AND a running buddy always helps with that too. I wish I had a running buddy for long weekend runs! I might have even gotten out in the snow this morning : )

It was seriously the best way to start our day…and so amazing to be done so early :) I felt great all day…and then I sat down for the first time since our run…I’m not moving for the rest of the night! Oh…and I’m gonna need one of those juices asap! mmmm

I never expected to start not wanting to go out in my mid 20s, I always thought it was something I’d love until kids or something. Since I’m not drinking this month I have gone out 2x and actually had a lot of fun, it’s all about the people! Great early morning run.
