We Made It!
Max and I left Victoria early Saturday morning. Super early. We were on the 7 am ferry to the mainland, and although it was early, it was super nice! I haven’t taken the ferry since this summer and for some reason it always brings back a very familiar-homey feeling.
In total it took us about 11hrs to get home. I know.. sooo long. I love road trips though so I didn’t mind.
As soon as I got home, I raided Heinz’ closet. Not sure how that happened but I saw this sweater and HAD to have it. He doesn’t wear it anymore…not sure if he ever did but now I am making good use of it
Sunday morning we woke up to this view. I tell ya, it’ll never get old.
After breakfast, we hung around a little and then I was off to run 18km. Oddly enough, we live exactly 18km from Nelson so I ran into town. Before I left I had a GU Energy Gel. Dora saw it, asked what it is, and promptly directed me to “better energy.”
I give you Ginseng Royal Jelly
It was too late for me to have one since I already downed my GU, but Dora loved it.
hahaha, of course, very very candid
It was a gorgeous run. We always drive into town and I appreciate the views, but running the same route is different. You have more time to browse around, breathe the fresh mountain air, and just enjoy the moment.
This first pic is about 3 minutes from home.. still in the driveway..
Getting closer into town now – Maybe around 15km!
I kept going and finally made it to BOB (big orange bridge). This bridge crosses Kootenay Lake and takes you into Nelson. Overall it was a really good run, but way more hills than I am used to. As a result, I am pretty sore today. I haven’t been sore from running in ages so its a little weird, but also good.
I was stretching and looked over the railings of the bridge and saw this. Someone in Nelson probably had a really cute Valentine’s Day! Things like that definitely make you smile.
I waited about 10 minutes, then Dora came and picked me up, we headed into Nelson and went for coffee at Oso Negro. Only the most amazing coffee place in all of Nelson.
The rest of the day consisted of watching my favourite German movies. Kein Ohr Hasen which translates into Rabbit Without Ears, and the sequel, Zwei Ohr Küken which means two-eared chicken. I know, weird names even worse when translated but seriously the funniest movies ever. LOVE THEM.
Hope you all had a great weekend!
