Ain’t No Day Like A Pow Day

Yesterday Max and I hit Whitewater. It’s like a little piece of ski heaven.

We woke up bright an early to a cloudy, snowflake-filled sky. I came downstairs for breakfast, Max was already awake and the first things he said to me were, “We picked a sick day to go skiing, gonna be a powder day kiddo.” All I could say back with the biggest smile on my face, “Yeah buddy!”

And a powder day it was.

Max and I jazzed heading up to Whitewater:

First run was a really easy one. We just wanted to zip down the mountain before getting into the really good stuff. Let me tell ya, it was like butter. BUTTER. We really are spoiled here in BC.

skiThroughout the day people would be yelling on the mountain. I can’t tell you how many times I heard “woohoo!!” between the trees. That kind of atmosphere is what Whitewater is all about. Just a good ol’ time skiing. That’s it. Nothing fancy, just fresh powder, good people, and a great time.

Max and I settled for a pint called “Face Plant” (appropriate considering I bailed about a million times yesterday), and the Wildhorse Bowl which was a curry bowl with chicken, eggplant, lentils, naan bread, peppers, and all sorts of deliciousness.

IMG_4590All in all it was the perfect day. Might have been better if we could have seen the amazing views of Whitewater, but considering we got buckets of fresh powder yesterday, I cannot be complaining ONE BIT.

Check out what the sights were when we got back to the car. Each vehicle was surrounded by a little mountain of snow.

IMG_4583We finished the day off with a coffee at Oso, a snack, and we were happy campers.

Today I am BEYOND SORE. Ask me to run 18km and I won’t have problem. Ask me to ski powder all day, and I can barely walk the next!
