Mannnnnnnn let me tell you – running 18 miles makes you hungry!
This morning I woke up from being hungry. Not from getting enough sleep or because my alarm clock went off but because my stomach was eating itself (or so it seemed).
Don’t even get me started on how hungry I was yesterday. I had an adequate breakfast, lunch, and I was hungry ALL DAY.
I had a ProBar after a lunch of sweet potato, kale, and avocado around 12 and I was starving by 4pm again. Have you seen the nuritional stats on one of those bad boys? Basically a meal in itself.
Anywho, in an attempt to keep my hunger at bay today I started my day off with pancakes!
What else? I am a little obsessed with them lately. Only problem was I had no flour. NONE. I need to go shopping apparently. So I whipped up random pancakes that worked out so well! Lets call them Banana, Flax & Oat Pancakes.1/4 cup ground flax 1/4 rolled oats 1.5 tsp of baking powder pinch of salt, ground ginger, cloves, cinnamon 1/2 a mushed banana 1 egg ** Mix everything together in a bowl until combined and make pancakes (I made 2) – easy peasy!
I topped mine off with a mixture of apple butter and goat’s milk yogurt (cause ya’ll know I can’t handle cow’s milk) and a nectarine – yum!
I also had the worst sleep after running 18 miles. You would think I would fall into bed and sleep like a baby, but nope, not this gal.
I went to bed about 2 hours after my run and I just couldn’t get comfortable. My legs were somewhat achy and I just wanted to move but considering I wanted to sleep at the same time, it was a bit of a battle.
My mind also wasn’t calm – I’m not sure why because I was really sleepy! I didn’t end up falling asleep until about 1 am even though I was in bed at 945. Oh well.
I probably should have listened to this angel and I would have most likely slept much better.
This is my all time favourite song and he does it so well. That southern drawl, that plaid, the story of his mama.. oh my..marry me?
Okay, I’m kidding, I don’t want to marry you. But sing to me so I can stare are you all day.
Surprisingly enough the following morning my legs were feeling pretty good! Slightly stiff knees but other than that I was laughing! Wahoo
In other news, this weekend I am doing the Color Run in Vancouver and I am SO excited! Bah, I get to run 5k with some of the greatest friends in the world and will look like a rainbow by the end of it – what’s not to LOVE!
Have you guys done it – loved it?
How do you like to recover after a long run? – clearly I need to work on this.
