This past weekend was spent in Vancouver with some of the greatest people I know.
Kendyl and I arrived Friday morning, hung out all day, then met up with Emma, Heleana, Marie, and Jenna and then things got a little boozy.. and by that I mean quite a bit (no shame, we all do it). I’m not one to post about how rowdy a weekend got, but this time, there is just no denying it. Vancouver seems to be my equivalent to Vegas.
We headed downtown with a bunch friends and at one point we had an entire transit bus signing Wagon Wheel. Just in case you aren’t familiar, here ya go. It was hilarious and amazing all at the same time. So happy with complete strangers.
Fast forward to Saturday morning – THE COLOR RUN! Side note: I lost my phone on Friday night (oh yeah, I am a gem) but a sweet angel of a man found it in the cab after me and returned it to me on Saturday – IN VANCOUVER. Good karma is definitely coming his way.
Welp, the color run was great minus that fact that we were feeling rough. Very, very rough. I’ll let the pictures do the talking.
oh, and we also walked the entire run. All of it. We didn’t even attempt to run it. My head was POUNDING, we had a few close calls in terms of throwing up, and welp… we were keepers that day.
Definitely looking and feeling our best. Don’t be alarmed with the ambulance – it was a complete coincident that they came around the corner as we were taking a little break from walking up a massive hill (aka, curled up and lying flat on the ground in pain).
Saturday evening we headed out for dinner with Kendyl’s parents and it was wonderful. I haven’t seen them in ages and it was so nice to see them
Post dinner, us girls headed downtown again. Kendyl and I were still feeling pretty rough so we decided to leave early, take a stroll by the harbour front and then call it a night. Home by midnight and out like a light.
Sunday we headed downtown with Kendyl’s parents for a little while and then Jenna and I headed back to the island.
Setting up shop on the ferry is a regular occurrence..
Let me just say this. It was one of the greatest weekends I have had in a really long time… but I did not eat ONE vegetable all weekend. Not one.
As soon as Jenna and I got to the ferry terminal I grabbed a pumpkin spice latte and made a bee-line to the salad bar.
In an effort to make up for the lack of veggies all weekend, I have been eating vegetables like it’s my job since I’ve been back. Lunches for Monday and today have been smoothies and all sorts of greeny goodness.
In this beauty we have everything but the kitchen sink.
Kale, parsley, celery, avocado, fresh ginger, coconut milk, nectarine, banana, ground cloves & ginger, and water. It tasted disgusting. It honestly was so incredibly bad. But I drank it anyways and it kept me full all day at work so that’s good news.
Today was the same story. Parsley, celery, kale, blueberries, banana, water, coconut oil, and apple butter. This one was much better but looked like vomit once it was all blended up. Perfect.
If there is anything to take away from this weekend it’s that it really is all about balance. An amazing time with friends, flashbacks that are still making me laugh, and tons of inside jokes that happened this weekend are totally worth a killer headache.
C’est la vie. Wouldn’t change it for the world.
